"Prior to coming to you, I sent out 15 resumes in 30 days with very few bites. Once you rebuilt my resume, I sent it to two companies whom both offered me jobs. The one I took actually increased my annual salary by $40,000 and my total compensation package by $60,000. Thanks again."
"It took me three months to find this executive position. Thank you so much Laura. You helped me build confidence and change my life. You went beyond writing a resume and letter. You gave me great advice for negotiating a career.
"Your services of drafting the resume were most certainly the factor in landing this job but more importantly our sessions together followed by my career laid out in written form was a great "pick me up". I had one offer as COO / CFO for a start-up in Venezuela the other is with Paradise Health Foods as Operations Manager."
"Thanks for all you have done. I wanted to share with you the review of the resume I had from a good friend: <<"It's a superb piece of work and the cover letter is equally well done. It's a great explanation of who you are and why you are now looking for new worlds to conquer. Whoever did this for you was money well spent!">>."
"I was able to quickly get a job in pharmaceutical sales - only two interviews for two offers. They said it was the best resume they had ever seen!"
"Your services helped me to make a difficult transition from banking to accounting/finance with little direct experience. The resume opened a door for me I could not open on my own. The thank you letter sealed the deal!"

"When I relocated to Cincinnati, I sent out 50 resumes and received 48 responses! I had 20 different offers of employment, and that was just from the responses that I would seriously consider! I tell everybody that I know, if you are going to get your resume done, you have to call Competitive Edge!"
"If it wasn't for you, I would still be looking for a job. I have a job I thought would be impossible for me to get. However, you reaccomplished my resume and changed my attitude, making me come out a winner."

"With awesome resume in hand I applied and got an interview right away with Knights Armament. After he read my awesome resume and we discussed a few things he decided to go and see which one or all of the powers to be wanted to also interview me. It turned out none of them wanted to and that they said to just hire me. The owner told me about the problems they were having with the model shop and offered me an opportunity to manage it. Thanks again for all your help."
"After three months of using my old resume and getting nowhere, I decided to come to you - what a difference a quality resume can make! I am a believer!"

"I was extremely successful in finding a new position upon transitioning from the US Air Force. Your expertise in translating the value of my employment and degrees/studies in Computer Science and Information Management paid off, allowing me to not only transition from military to civilian employment, but to make a change from medical lab technology to computer science and IS. I received 30 calls in the first day. Seven days after submitting my resume I was contacted by Abbott Laboratories, the company I accepted employment with as a Senior Engineer. This transition allowed me to triple my salary and successfully change careers."
"I would never have thought to do my resume that way. The resume is what made the company look at me. Now I'm earning what I'm worth with an incredible raise."

"Your service has been a tremendous help in my career advancement. I used your resume for potential opportunities in France and I actually relocated to Paris in December."
"I'm a writer. I thought my resume was exceptional. I had worked on it for several weeks, when, in November 1999 I began mailing it out the "traditional" way to a number of companies, including Cisco Systems, my dream company. All I got back was the "traditional" sorry postcard, yes, even from Cisco. In December I posted the resume online with Monster.com, HotJobs.com, etc., and all I got was spam. I told myself it was because no one was hiring that close to the new millenium. By the end of February, I was seriously thinking of signing up with a job searching company that would have cost me about $10k–money I didn't have, and would have had to ask my Dad for. That company required the client to go to their facility for a week of schooling, among other things. They guaranteed a certain number of interviews within a 12 month period, and warned me that it would be, on average, 6-9 months before I'd find a job. I was desperate. I didn't HAVE 6-9 months. That's when I called A Competitive Edge. The simple, yet pointed questions you asked me over the phone ('What type of job do you REALLY want?') refocused my search. The changes you made to my resume on March 3rd seemed minor, and frankly, I was a wee bit skeptical, and didn't follow all of your recommendations with regards to the cover letters–after all, I'm a writer, too! Fortunately for me, I didn't touch the key changes you made!! I reposted my resume that Sunday, March 5th, with the same internet job boards I had used in December, and emailed four targeted resumes with variations of your cover letters. Monday morning the feeding frenzy began. The phone never stopped ringing; by 10:30 am I had four interviews scheduled. At that point, I got a call from my number one targeted company: Cisco Systems, to set up an interview with a hiring manager. It was 7:30 am in California! The excited recruiter called me twice more that day to reassure himself I was still available. After one telephone interview (Tuesday), Cisco flew me to San Jose (Wednesday) (hotel and rental car included, of course), interviewed me, took me to lunch, and toured me around "Cisco City" (Thursday). Friday morning, March 10th, I returned with the hastily gathered portfolio they had asked for, only to find that their decision had been made, they had no interest in seeing my portfolio, and their only questions were: 'How much do you need to make you happy?' and 'How soon can you start work?' I signed a contract well into the six figures. I flew back to the East Coast that evening packed up my car on Saturday, and headed west on Sunday. I started work in San Jose, CA on Monday, March 20, 2000, two weeks from the day my resume appeared online. I received job offers from two other companies I interviewed with on Tuesday March 7th: The Discovery Channel (which was a difficult job to turn down...) and the United States Mint. I had to cancel several interview appointments I'd made during the first 3 days of the 'rush', as well as decline to interview with 15 or 20 other companies. Even though I pulled my resume from the job boards on March 11th, I am STILL receiving phone calls and emails from recruiters. Oh, and the Key West job? On April 25th I received a little postcard from the US Army: 'We have evaluated your resume and find you are not qualified for the position of Computer Specialist/Web Development.' Moral of this story: There's an old adage: 'Write what you know.' Obviously, I don't know diddily about writing resumes."
"Absolutely one of the best presentations I have ever seen on the whole interviewing scenario. I have been a career coach for over 15 years and have always offered interviewing coaching to my clients as part of my package of services. However, I thoroughly enjoyed what you presented in your interviewing manual because of its depth. Loved the innovative transparencies and wow! the separate client interviewing manual was terrific. Your materials were well-thought out and not just routine boring stuff. I can state without a doubt that your Manual will have an immediate and positive affect on my business.”
“Laura designed all our training materials for Career Planning and not only do our students rave about the program and her style, but they consistently get the job!”
“I received your interview package and I AM SO IMPRESSED. Thank you for putting such a complete collection of information together and making it available. It's very well done.”
“Reviewing the manual for Competitive Edge was incredible! After reading it one time I knew with it¹s help I could go out and teach an interview program!”
“I was very impressed with how much information you jam-packed into the coaching program, and the amount of time and care you put into preparing, organizing and printing the manuals from the job coach perspective. For the amount of effort and information you put together, the cost was nominal compared to how much we can benefit from it. I would highly recommend it if any of you want to add value-added services to your business.”
“I loved that you try to find new and innovative ways to give us advantages in the workplace! Your interview program rates a 10 out of 10!”
“Your interviewing workshop was helpful and eased my stress regarding an interview. I was prepared and self-confident upon entering all interviews!
“You created an increased awareness of the necessity for resume writers to expand the level of our service to encompass job and career transition coaching services in order to support our clients in their career development and job search efforts.”
“God has blessed you with a very special gift, thank you for sharing your gift with us! You have touched my life.”
